CrossFit: The training, the games, the BS
What is CrossFit (CF)? In a nut shell it’s performing movements and or exercises under time that are continuously varied from workout to workout. Started in the mid 1990’s, this training system does have value in improving ones fitness level, but the claims made on the CrossFit website are unsubstantiated and untenable.
CF’s upside according to its proponents is being a total-body conditioning workout that is purposefully varied, which inhibits boredom. I think it’s a home run for fitness enthusiasts because the workouts are challenging and competitive. CF’s inherent difficulty, notice I said difficulty not intensity, also benefits the average person because most people do not train hard enough to elicit any measurable result.

I’ve done both CrossFit and Body Building Style routines and I’d say without a doubt that a cross fitter would fair better in the Body Building world than vice versa… This article offers nothing, it’s just some meathead’s opinion, it’s a waste of space and I’m surprised Bottom Line would post such garbage… The simplest way I look at comparing the two disciplines (if I may, and I’m no expert, nor a Cross Fitter) is while engaged in the sports I partake in (rec. level soccer & football, endurance running and high level rugby) cross fit athletes way outperform heavy lifters across the board in almost every field (with the exceptions of maybe blocking in football and big maybe of scrumming in rugby). Also on the CrossFit site cited it states Cross Fit is intended for people ON TOP of another physical activity… Just my two cents.
